Maria Sharapova has announced her decision to withdraw from Miami Open. She was forced take this decision, following a surgery to cure her injured right shoulder.
Miami Open organisers also confirmed the message, “We are sad to announce that @mariasharapova has withdrawn as she heals from a right shoulder procedure she underwent last week,” And tournament organisers do not want to miss her next year also, “We wish Maria a speedy recovery and look forward to having her back in Miami in 2020!”
Since last summer Sharapova had struggled from this shoulder pain caused by a raying tendon and small labrum tear. All her efforts to solve the problem by strengthen muscle by exercises failed and forced her doctors to perform a surgery on right shoulder.
The five time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova, also previously had shoulder surgery, able to beat defending champion Caroline Wozniacki at third round. But losing to Ashleigh Barty in fourth round (pre quarter finals) of the Australian Open 2019.
The 31 year old former world number one Maria Sharapova, pulled out of indoor hard courts St. Petersburg Open in Russia after winning first round with Australian Daria Gavrilova.
Her current WTA ranking also worrisome at 29, did not won any tournament to improve her rankings. The last one she won is Tianjin Open in October 2017.
